The National Cinema Center of Armenia is a primary state funding body which supports Armenian film industry at the key stages of film production, including script development, production, promotion and distribution with a particular attention paid to international co-productions. It aims at promotion of Armenian cinema locally and internationally and helps foster new artistic accomplishments of Armenian filmmakers worldwide. Twice a year in spring and autumn the National Cinema Center of Armenia conducts a competition of full-length and short film projects in the following categories: feature, animation and creative documentary. To mention: foreign filmmakers who wish to apply to NCCA for financial support must have a co-producer from Armenia to apply for funding. |

Martiros Sarian (1880-1896) was born on February 29, 1880 in the Armenian town of Novaya Nakhichevan, situated near the Don river in Russia (presently part of Rostov-on-Don). Sarian's ancestors originated from Ani - the ancient capital of Armenia. As a result of migration, some Armenians settled in the Crimea.
